Me I'm voting, I want to have at least a little bit of an impact & I can also then justify moaning fucked up politics, & have the right to moan to unlike those who don't vote & wonder why the people they want in don't get in.

Absolutely I'll be voting! Aside from wishing to participate in the process and hopefully helping the party I vote for get in, it is also useful in terms of being able to whinge about whomever actually gets in. Obviously this works better if those who get in are not the ones you voted for... although if they were then you can of course complain that they are not doing that which you had hoped they would Even if you simply spoil a ballot paper I think people should vote - I know if there was no candidate I felt worthy of my X I'd certainly spoil. Also, and very importantly for myself, I feel that if I failed to vote I would be insulting the memory of those who died and suffered for me to be able to vote and I have no wish to do that.

I haven't missed a vote since I came of age. It really annoys me when people complain about politics and haven't bothered to go out and try to do something about it. I can moan with a clear consience - and I do, too!!!

No vote - no voice - no right to complain about stuff.
I always vote.

Agree with all - Vote or shut up.
As to "how I vote..." that has changed.
Don't worry Mods - I'm not about to be party political.
Over the last 15 years I have become a floating voter. That started by being logical and reading manifestos. Now I just vote how I feel on the day - built up over the period before the poll - totally uncommitted to any party over time. Which is kinda logical as the major parties don't seem to be committed to their own policies. [Sorry Mods that slipped out ]
It is we floating voters change things.
but this is like all things here - just an opinion, not a declaration of war!

Simple. I take my polling card, walk to the polling station, tick the box, put it in the voting box and walk home again! ;D I'm sorry, I couldn't resist that.

How do I vote? i look at candidates and policies. That means that the XXXXXX party get my vote, or the XXXXXXX. I don't believe in "tactical voting". I believe in voting for who I think will do a good job.

I think that you never get what you really want. I mean you vote for someone like Mike Foster for the anti-hunt vote and then he goes and votes pro nuclear. Same thing with local elections, you vote for the best of the worst really. Either way, no vote, no voice. But sometimes big change happens because everyone makes a little effort and it all adds up to an unstoppable force for change. Perestroika, Anti-Apartheid, Abolition of slavery, etc, etc. Alternatively, you can follow my uncle (miserable) George who used to say there was only ever two good people in politics...Guy Fawkes and Cromwell !!

My husband is a distant relative of Cromwell, he was something like his great great great great great (a few more greats) uncle.

Don't worry Mods - I'm not about to be party political. Just to clarify, the reason we moderate heavily on politics is that it is unfair to promote one political viewpoint over another. I'm all for encouraging people to vote, and a while back we provided links to manifestos for all the parties. What this means is that if we provide links to manifestos of the big three parties, we have to do it for all the other parties too, including those that some might find distasteful or extremist. Therefore Martin took the decision to moderate political posts and discourage those promoting one party above another. so feel free to post links to the manifesto of whichever party you support but remember that you will also need to provide links to other parties too. bb Rhiannon
