Just wondering what techniques people use to shield themselves from other people's negative energies, thoughts and actions?

You mean apart from avoiding the person or envisaging them sitting on the toilet?
Salespeople are trained to alter their self perception as well as their perception of the negative influence. Of COURSE it doesn't always work! Long long ago I was trained to imagine that I was wearing a hat [by a black and white rickety old sales training film!] Try imagining a druidic coronet, a headress [or a mitre ;D ;D ;D]
A bubble of white light often works if you are even minded enough to maintain it while being agrevated but that isn't easy either.
May the winds of your life blow the clouds away for you.

How silly would I look in a mitre?! ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for the tips! I had been visualising a literal shield and tried the 'star trek' variety.

I was going to make a new thread but since there's one which is simler to my question i'll ask here.
I have a friend that's currently dealing with someone that keeps "hexing" her and was wondering what would the best methods be to protect her and the house?
I suggested crystals and window charms that have mirriors in them so they can reflect the energy's back, was wondering any other ideas?

There are some anti hex symbols, too. Can't post them here, though. They can be made as drawings or worked in a sculpture form.

You can find them in books on signs and symbols, though.

There are many methods of removing negativity from our lives.
Some simpler methods include placing mirrors at windows to reflect back any negativity.
In the past witchbottles were buried under doorsteps to prevent any negative energy from witches entering the house. You can make these yourself, just put some iron nails and some of your own urine into a bottle and bury it by your front door. (Raven this might be a very positive thing for your friend to do as she will feel that she is actually doing something about the situation and therefore empowering herself.)
Red thread tied into a Rowan tree is also thought to ward off evil.
Although I certainly don't believe in the 'rule of three', I do believe in the law of attraction and that people who give off negativity will attract negativity into their lives. Having been accused in the past of 'hexing' someone, my only response is 'Could I be bothered?', the answer to which is always a resounding 'NO!' People who give off negativity will ultimately fall victim to their own demons, and are therefore not worth spending energy or time on (other than a good gossip of course!)
Of course, if you think it is one particular person having a go at you, then the best way to fight off their negativity is to live well. If you are able to walk proudly, to have positive thoughts about yourself and those around you, to enjoy the good things in life such as friends, family, nature, etc. then this positivity will provide its own shield and be a strength when the crappy things in life hit.
Keep smiling!
Rhiannon

One other point worth noting is that many people are often convinced they are being hexed when in reality they're just having a run of bad luck, or making small everyday occurrences (such as stubbing a toe) into a 'hex'. Often it is not healthy to encourage the belief in hexes as it can lead to already vulnerable people getting in a tizzy over nothing. Bad things happen in life because . .. . . . . . bad things happen! Ill fortune is as much a part of life as anything else, and it's how we deal with the misfortune that life sends us that makes who we are as a person. It might be worth reminding your friend that those who have the magical ability to do a succesful hex are usually developed enough as people not to be bothered. Those that go flinging 'hexes' around are often those with no magical ability whatsoever, so any 'hex' they did would be ineffectual. Your friend does herself no favours by gifting the person she believes to be hexing her with more power than they actually have. The belief in persecution does seem to be a particularly pagan disease and one I find very unhealthy. After all, are we really that important that people would waste the time and energy required on a hex just because we'd pissed them off?? It's almost a reverse egoism!! All food for thought! Rhiannon

I agree with that statement Rhiannon. Theres is NO ONE out there that I'm that interesting in to bother with that crap. But then some people do as you said, do have some kind of a "reverse egoism" were they think that others are really that bothered what they do, or that they are "that" important!! My Green house clapped today and I only put it up yesterday. Was it the wind? or was I hexed by some one its a hex, its a hex, I know its a hex, it has to be!!! because I don't believe it was just one of those things. Maybe some one stood in their kitchen last night sending me evil wishes Yeah what ever!!! Sorry about this outburst, feeling negative, think some one has been doing black magic on me. Or it could be a just need a nap Posh xx
