The Sun...I've heard of that. Big firey orb that hangs in the sky, yes?
I think I saw him back in April, giving a two fingered salute to Blighty before naffing off to the continent.
I'm glad to hear that himself got back ok - I take it you're unable to get into work today because of the flooding!
The only positive things that I can think of about this weather are that a) the reservoirs will hopefully have had a chance to fill up and replenish themselves where most needed and b) I haven't suffered as badly from hayfever this year. On the whole though this rain is starting to get seriously annoying.
rain rain go away, come again another day!!

Let's spare a thought for those members and subscribers who are in places directly affected by the floods. I know Wyrdewood said his shop had flooded, and we have some people from the welsh borders and Gloucestershire who come online every now and then.
We're thinking of you. Shout if you want us to panic buy in our local supermarket and bring it down to you.

Shout if you want us to panic buy in our local supermarket and bring it down to you. Hi, and thanks for that! I have just got back online - we've had no electric all day. The bad news is that our water supplies are due to run out in the next 10 hours... absurd, given that it's pouring rain here near Gloucester, and we can't go anywhere for flooded roads! Luckily, we are well above river flooding level... It is awesome, the sheer power of the water. I had the scary drive home on Friday, as did so many others - normally quiet country roads turned into torrents, and me in 1st gear pushing through the water hoping not to stall, praying it wouldn't get any deeper, trying to get to my my kids to get them back home safe! My daughter was stranded, but happy enough to have an adventure at her gran's. I've been told not to show for work unless called in - it's emergency roster only, as there is not enough water for everyone! And we're the lucky ones. At least we're not paddling in our living room. Hey ho. Hope you are all safe and warm. Oh, I have to say this - just had a great Radio moment - noticed that they were playing 'Orinoco Flow' Tactless, or what... Weaver

Okay - but shout if you want us to try and bring some stuff down to you. We can always come down in the van, and there's no panic buying (yet) in Brum, so we have plenty of water and other supplies.

The sundance will help for later, but the water is in the system now. My parents live in Standlake They're bagged up and getting things upstairs as I type. I'd go and help, but they're cut off already Fingers crossed. And the visualisation of a dry dry island which is their property.

I know Wyrdewood said his shop had flooded, and we have some people from the welsh borders and Gloucestershire who come online every now and then. Thanks to everyone for the concern. I was actually very lucky, in that the shop did not flood but the water came about five feet up the passageway leading to it. The town was described as "a rushing torrent" and we were lucky to get out when we did. However, I haven't been able to get back to the shop yet and hope to have a go today. I have been very lucky so far. Some shops, only yards from mine, have had two foot of water flooding in. I try not to worry about the things you can't change and my heart goes out to those in a worse situation than mine. Apparently, the worst is yet to come tomorrow !

My parents half of Standlake village is an island. But it's a dry dry island and it's draining off now. My heart goes out to the other side of the village.

Let's also spare a thought for China and Indonesia, both also experiencing very heavy flooding, and due to the lack of infrastructure and poverty high death tolls too.
In fact, let's spare a thought for everyone who's got freak weather conditions going on, Turkey and Greece are baking under 46 degrees, other countries are suffering from extreme heatwaves too, and then there's several countries, like ourselves who are drowning under unprecedented high rainfall.

Wow, Wyrdewood, that's some serious weather right there. I hope you're not being hit too badly by the second wave of flooding- bits of Redditch are already underwater. Right now I'm sitting in sunshine and you would never guess at the events of the last week just by looking outside. The second lot of rain drained away as normal, so it looks like we're in the clear for now (leans over to touch wood). I have been very lucky and, I would like to say, very touched by the concern of others for my welfare. A big, heartfelt, thanks to everyone at the PA who has wished me well.
