Did anyone else notice the moon on Saturday Evening. We came out from Eva's storytelling for Earth hour - a great time.
The the Sunlit crescent of the moon was on her back like a cup but the cup was not empty - The rest of the moon was Earthlit so the cup was full and piled high like a glowing icecream sundae.
A wonderful end to a special evening.
Pat.

We just saw the empty cup but we liked it.

I saw the crescent along with my family on our way back from a bit of late night shopping.
Nice!

Whenever you see a brightly lit new moon try and get somewhere dark to see it. Street lighting spoils the effect. You will always see, very faintly, the rest of the moon lit up by light reflected from the Earth - it is quite magical and it is the basis for the song: "I saw the crescent, you saw the whole of the moon."
I just love the idea that the Huntress is lit by the Sun King and the Earth Mother at the same time.

Saw the crescent but thought that the rest was my willful imagination. Now I know different.

I only saw the crescent on Sunday on my way back from the meeting, but it was lovely. Grand end to a fine evening.
It's far too bright round here to see the dark part, but I've seen it before and it really is magical (especially over the Alps BTW).

I didn't have a problem with seeing the whole moon, the dark as well as the light.
I was wonderful though. I dark side seems a lot larger when its like that

Yes, Pat - we're very lucky here because of the location and the lack of light pollution!
