Contrary to rumors we still open for business,
It's actually quite sad and a pathetic tatic that someone has spoken to scruffy murphy's unaware to myself or even Matt and said our moot has been disbanded. Whilst we do not know who this person is we have a fair idea who.
I would like to of thought that the pagan community would of been more meture then to do this babyish attack on our moot. I guess I was wrong.

Sorry to hear that this sort of bitching is still going on. The best way to fight such rumours is to get out and promote the moot, not just here on this message board, but on just about every pagan forum you can find on the internet, and also by dropping flyers in at any of the shops that might be visited by those interested in paganism.
Martin and I used to regularly take flyers around to Zen and Oasis.

Hi everyone.
I'm new to the boards. For those that attend the Scruffy's moot (and those I met in Acocks Green and the walk and talk) I am Richard.
I am not really bothered for internet forums on the whole but after becoming aware of this post I felt compelled to join so as to respond.
I am fast becoming a regular at the Scruffy's moot and enjoy it very much. I will choose to believe on this occasion that whosoever took it upon themselves to inform the pub the moot was disbanded did so in honest error...

...If this was not an honest error and the rest of this thread is factually correct, then I would like to think the person who did this would be as disappointed in themselves as I would be in myself had I stooped so low. I have no time or need for any individual or organisation that would endorse this type of behaviour. I don't wish to speak for anyone else but I believe those who run this moot to be capable of informing Scruffy's as to our needs or otherwise.
Blessings Rich

I agree rich, and tbh I think truthly this person done this to try and damage our relationship with the pub, we have a rough idea of who this person is because a discription has been given, however we are still not pointing fingers until which time we feel necssary to do.

When I first read this thread I felt annoyed and upset that someone would set out to cause trouble and upset. Then I began thinking what has this person actually achieved? The pub now know the information they have been given is incorrect. The regulars will still attend, perhaps with even more determination than before. Lets not give this person anymore power by giving them what they want, which is to upset us. Lets, as Rhiannon suggested, work together and make the Scruffys moot a success! Hayley x

The Scruffy's moot IS a success from my perspective. I enjoy attending and have found my needs and expectations, as a long time Pagan new to Birmingham, exceeded by the moot and its attendees. I won't comment on its historical success beyond to say I was aware of it before I moved here, and have considered attending from out of town.
My feelings do not regard what was not achieved, instead are focussed on what was intended, if indeed this was an act of malice.
I am deeply intolerant of such acts.

This is all Chinese whispers at the moment and the fact is (from what I can gather for speaking with someone on the board) that no-one knows for sure if these thing were said.
I understand that Matt is going to speak to the person/persons concerned at ask what exactly was said, if anything!!!
Listening to 3rd parties can often result in people being accused of doing thing which they never said or did. It can ruin people reputation's, friendships and in some cases even lives.
So before everyone goes off halve cocked, I suggest that the FULL FACTS are known, by the persons who were supposed to have said these things and by Matt and as in most cases you will properly find its a load of malicious gossip.
Often in these case if the parties involved, confront the person who said these things, they turn into a urban myth, "Oh well, so and so told so and so etc etc etc.
But just wait and see, the truth will come out in the end
I hope the meeting tonight will bring some peace and some positive result for the way forward for the whole of the pagan community.
Posh xx

Also agreed. I have just reviewed my posts on this thread and find them to be as openly worded as I intended, full of "ifs". I don't find this thread to be overly commital or dangerous to anyone's reputation or worse. I respect your opinion however and have nothing more to add on this matter in any case.

Hi all, i know i no longer attend the moot but it holds a very big space in my heart as does the whole Birmingham pagan community. Please can people remember that mistakes do happen and that all the facts need to be known before accusations are made. As Posh so rightly says it can cause great problems. If it was actually done and was a malicious attempt to damage the scruffy Murphy moot than it hasn't worked and i think that gives the strongest message. Hoping this is all a misunderstanding and nothing more My love to you all Pollie
