I spoke to EH today and they were very helpfull.
Rhiannon has told them that someone from here will be contacting them and they are fully aware thet we are the same group that usually go on the weekend after the solstice.
I now have to contact Peter Carson to request dawn access for a group of up to 40 people on saturday 27th of june .
as soon as i have done that and know the cost i will post on here.
So i have volunteered to organise the access we now need someone to do the ritual when we get there.

Hi Phil
Well done for that, they're very helpful aren't they. Happy to do anything else I can to help. EH will be glad that someone of your integrity will be the contact.

Thanks caz for volunteering for helping with the ritual.
I havent had confirmation yet from E H but ive spoken to them again and was told that we should be ok for the 27th.
I suggested at the last rainbow moot that we could hire a 17 seat minibus for the day to take those without transport and use the following day to visit other sites in the area.

Mini bus is a great idea, although getting a driver for it might not be quite as easy, especially if you are thinking about visiting other sites on the way back!

Hello Phil,
I must congratulate you on trying your best to do something so positive for the local pagans.
Saying that I am about to ask questions which may sound totally opposite.
When you say you drove others down last year, I assume you have the passenger transport insurance to do so, as normal car drivers insurance would not cover a mini bus driver ( I assume I'm correct in thinking this? or is the insurance in with the cost of the van hire? Also I have a disabled friend, who seems to think that she would not be able to take advantage of this scheme, as the van could not accommodate her and her wheel chair (lift system being required, again an assumption on my part, could a van with this facility be hired if viable?)
Also when I did the camp up the lickey hills last year, I had to take out public liability insurance, if there was a group over X amount (can't remember now) Have these things been looked into? As I was told that if I did not take out this insurance and an accident occurred. the person/people could have sued me personally as I organized the event.
Could you tell us if you have considered these issues and addressed them. Sorry if i seem to be putting a downer on things, I just don't want to see you in a situation that you have not considered relevant.

Hi Posh
Good points to raise. I'm sure that the company hiring out the minibus would be able to advise on necessary insurances.
There is often a clause in car insurance policies that use for reward or hire is not covered. Although most turn a blind eye to people sharing transport costs, technically it could cause problems if a claim ever had to be made. In the past we've never bothered checking this but in these litigious times it's probably worth a quick phone call.

Insurance will be sorted out with the hire company and my own insurance company.
as soon as i have confirmation of date and cost from english heritage i will get a price including insurance, fuel etc and post on here. none of the hire companies i have looked at have wheelchair lifts.

Will I be able to use my National Trust card to get in? As it facilitates access for free at all other times?

I can now confirm that the Stonhenge visit will go ahead as planned on June 27 .
The car park will be open from 4 15 with access to the stones at 4 30.
English Heritage are not charging us but I will be collecting after the ritual to make a donation.
This will be our first visit as Pagan Central so I hope we can raise a good amount between us.
I have a price for a minibus of £204 including insurance . I would add £40 for fuel so that is £14.41 each if we fill all 17 seats.
will of course shop around for a cheaper deal.

Hello Phil, That is a really good price. I known in years passed, when I went down with the group, I paid £10.00 towards the petrol and that was approx five years ago. So with how much the cost of fuel has risen in the passed few years, that is a very good price indeed. Plus it means that others don't have the pressure of driving themselves and its Eco friendly using only one vehicle You could also arrange for everyone to bring a picnic and after the event, you could all site around in a field nr the stones and watch the sun come over the area and you could have a sing song on the way there and back. "we all come from the Goddess " la la la etc But seriously, well done Phil. Sorry I will not be coming, as I have already booked for the 21st but you never know and small private thing sounds very inviting indeed One other thing Phil, were do people contact you and do they need to pay up front? Always a good idea to take a generous deposit as you can then get an idea of the people coming. Also have you seen the coach? does it have a large front door or a back on were a wheel chair could be folded down and stored? just in case any disable folk are interested? Posh x
