All the green-fingered gardeners are probably going to say "so what" but yesterday I got my first real crop of potatoes. Some of them might be smaller than a pea, but there are also some normal sized ones. I am so chuffed! especially as I thought the slugs might have got them.

It is always satisfying to get your first of anything you've not grown before so go on & be chuffed

I DO know how you feel Rhiannon. My daughter took a new flat in the Spring and had access to a paved yard. Its now full of grow bags and potato sacks. She too has just harvested her first crop of spuds.
She also wonders what on earth the blackfly, whitefly and cabbage white caterpillars were living on in the centre of Aberystwyth before she arrived.

We had them mashed with lots of butter, leeks and some really yummy grain mustard. Absolutely bloody gorgeous!
