Hands up everyone who has clothes in their closet they have not worn in over a year. Yes, you in the back, stop hiding we can see you and know you have at least a few. Convinced the moment you finally give it away the perfect occasion to wear it will appear (or you will finally lose weight and it will magically fit etc).
Why is it so hard to let go of some things?
Example 1- Years ago I worked at a local independant theatre - my first part time job after my sons were born. But even after I finished school and got a full time job I continued to work there for another 5 years. Only stopped because i moved too far away to make it practical.
Example 2 - when I moved to UK I was a fully qualified Certified Dental Assistant (RDN here in UK) For years after I stopped working in dental offices I kept paying my membership fees and taking the required cont ed courses just 'in case' I ever needed to go back. Only at the end of 2007 did I finally give it up because it was costing way too much - but it was so hard to do.
Example 3 - Now, when I was in Uni last time (2003-2005) some friends kindly took me on to help one Sunday a month -this came in very handy when I needed money for materials. Finished school got a job - still doing it. Started to think - maybe I should give it up now as I dont really need it anymore and would be nice to not have to keep that Sunday free (always miss Syrbil's walk and talk moots because of it for one).
Yet, as soon as I start thinking about telling them I freeze up. :oLike some sub part of my brain says the sec I give it up and it is too late something will happen that I need it.
Anyone else have this problem?
