You can buy an icecream maker from Thompsons for under £25.00. Alternatively if you're feeling rich a posh one will set you back about £200.
warm up 1 pint of breakfast/full cream milk with a couple of glugs of vanilla extract with seeds. Meanwhile whisk 4-5 egg yolks with a good pile of caster sugar or icing sugar.
Stir the warmed milk into the egg mixture and return to heat. Stir constantly until mixture is just off boiling point and cook for a couple more minutes.
Allow to cool then chill in the fridge for a couple of hours. When completely cold pour into icecream maker and leave machine running for approximately half an hour. Pour semi-frozen mixture into container and freeze for another half-hour or so.
Eat!
Having seen how many chemicals are in any form of bought icecream, including the organic ones, I'm discovering lots of new icecream recipes. So far we've had chocolate chip, blueberry, and last night I made Crunchie icecream. Yum!
