at this time of year when your central heating boiler packs up and you're left with no heating or hot water? To top it all my fridge has died the death too!!
I think I shall spend this christmas in bed sleeping, at least I'll be warm!!!

True - we had no hot water or heating for a few days a couple of weeks back. Thankfully it's got a running repair done until after Crimbo, but we were relying on the electric shower and gas fire for hot water and heating. We just had to cuddle up more

I can fully sympathise with you, Glynis. Until about four years ago, we lived in a house with no central heating or double glazing. We could see our breath in the mornings and got dressed under the bed covers. Our only source of heat was a range in the kitchen and a couple of clapped out electric heaters which I was too scared to use. And my exe's reply to our complaints? "Put on another jumper"....... Our hot waterpilot light has gone our for the second Christmas on the trot. At least we knew what to do and didn't have to call out British Gas on Christmas Eve again, but we have it serviced every September. It must just fancy a Christmas break. At least the heating is fine. Hope you are snug, Glynis. You can always borrow my dog if you want a cuddle. He loves keeping people warm.

I still live in one of those!!!xx no central heating, no double glazing and no cavity walls either!!xxx Roll on april nxt year, and the council bringing their homes up to date!! (unless they run out of money before they reach us, as they have a couple of times before reaching us!!) It was our freezer that seemed to be playing up this xmas, although it was my fault for not plugging it in properly after defrosting!!

A nice man came out and discovered what the problem was.... it seems that the pressure valve has died. He pumped come air into the system to stop the pressure dropping and so far so good I have some heating and hot water!! Trouble is with me because I've got this under active thyroid I feel cold all the time!! So even with heating I've still got the thermals on.......

Its not just the boiler that packs up! We were sitting down to watch a bit of TV on the 24th, the heating on at a nice comfortable level and dinner cooking nicely in the oven, when the lights flickered and the power went off! Luckily it was only for about ten minutes. We put all the candles away, reset all the clocks and timers in the house and then, guess what, it went off again. This time it was about twenty minutes, so I can't complain, but when you don't know how long it will be it seems like an eon. Anyway, it all added to the romance of Yule. It must have been all those people with Blackpool illuminations for lights on their houses switching on (in an age of power conservation and global warming they shouldn't be allowed.) A happy New Year to everyone!!

I admit to having a tiny christmas tree, I found a Pound shop in the city centre and couldn't resist buying two dinky trees for the party table at the Pen museum. I bought one home and wound a set of lights round it and put some little baubles on it. That and the cards I got were the sum of my christmas decorations!!
