Earlyer last week I was walking past a big field near a housing estate near me when I noticed a tractor and workmen digger up the entrance I thought nothing of it I just thought they were just putting down pipes.
Then afew days later I go past it again And its been completely dug up persumeably to build housing or something.
why do I think this is wrong.
1. in the same area their is atleast 30 unlived in housing maybe they're not safe enough to live in but they could knock them down and build their instead or just repair them
2. This field is one of only two in that local area and 20-50 kids play football on it daily and while they were playing football they was arrassing people
3. not only did they dig up the local field + part of a school field they dug up the local kids playground for toddles + the basket ball field + the skating raps.
In a world were theirs less and less for children and teenages to go digging up the little green and playgrounds we have is just wrong.

I agree with this.
It will come to the point one day where we will have no parks or woods anywhere because of housing developments.
As you said why not fix other buildings or knock them down to make way for new ones. I worked at the local council and the time they take to fix things is unbeleivable. I am still waiting for a fence inspection and repair from march.......

the local areas are already feeling the effect of the destruction
Increase in violence/anti social behaivor and vandilism all traced back to the destruction of the park

I agree. Parks may not be perfect, our local one is a sea of empty bottles, but at least it gives the kids and teenagers somewhere to hang around and keeps them entertained. What a shame that the councils are so short-sighted and choose short term gain over long term benefit.

The main problem here is that the Tory's changed the law and now if a developer doesn't get planning permission from the council, they just go to Whitehall where the planning permission gets rubber stamped with no questions asked. I would argue that most of the developments that are going up are not needed, there is no joined - up thinking about city planning at the moment. There are too many people getting rich quick to ask too many questions, meanwhile our heritage buildings are being demolished. Grade 2 listed buildings are having only the frontages preserved and hundreds of tiny 'studio' flats are being built, mainly for student accomodation.

I totally agree with this one, it is amazing how much 'park land' is being dug up for the purpose of building houses / apartments. On another vein of the same thing, I am astonished to see just how many pubs are also being knocked down for the building of houses etc, in my local area I can name 5 pubs that have been flattened for this, I realise that this is not as serious as destrying parklands but it is the same in so much as it is taking away the heart of communities. The reason, I believe, for this problem, ie the lack of housing in general is the fact of so many private land lords, surely there should be some kind of limit as to how many houses someone can own, the council are selling council homes to these private landlords, and then half of them stand empty because people cannot afford to pay the rents that these people are asking, in my opinion anyway

its the same for my local area, there is at the moment a big field with a pond in it, and apprently they are diging it all up and putting houses there, and the funny thing is no ones living in the houses above my local shops, why not just repire them instead of destorying a wonderful landmark? instead they are knocking the shops down and building an asda there, rumors is that once this is up it'll stop the kids from messing around the shops, heck will it if anything it'll incress

They built a huge new Asda at Cape Hill, thinking along the same lines I expect, within the first week they had lost thousands of pounds from people stealing (that was the staff!!) and had to hire security guards to stop people having their handbags / wallets stolen off them as they left the car park!!

Yeah and they also got rid of Netto's when they built it, I hate shopping at Netto's but it was always good to watch the fights that always took place there ;D
