I went to see Type O Negative last night, and by the gods it was a terrible performance. Now, everyone has an off night, but this was much more than that. For a start, they didn't come on stage until half ten, and the curfew at the Academy is 11. Not a good start. The crowd were actually booing because they had been kept waiting so long (nearly an hour). Then when they did come out, the lead singer could barely stand through whatever intoxicants he had been indulging in, and the whole band just radiated a really nasty "f*ck you" attitude towards the crowd. Then they vanished for about 15 minutes. A roadie, or crew member, or member of staff at the Academy came out and apologised and informed us the show would go on. We were treated to a one song encore and then they staggered off again. To be honest, I was pleased to see them go because it meant I could go home! On the plus side, it was lovely to see Julie and Ian out, and quite a few others who I haven't seen in a while.

Heard some bad reviews on the radio this morning too.
Apart from anything else, it's really unprofessional behaviour. What a lot of bands don't realise is that much behaviour by the really big acts is put on. They don't get wasted until they've done the stuff that earns them the money.
I'm surprised there wasn't a queue of people demanding a refund.

I dunno, I was there as well and to be honest I'd say half the band was there.
Kenni and Johnny didn't seem too bad.....except for the whole wind the crowd thing up with the vid cam at the end of the main set.
Pete was very poor though....and I'm not even gonna talk about the last one.
Overall a very poor showing by the band. Having said that Paradise Lost were awesome as ever and I was pleasantly surprised by Zico Chain even though they're not really my thing.

The Academy is advising anyone who wants a refund to contact them and they will pass their details on to the promoters.
It's strange though, I've heard mixed reports about the show they did in Manchester the night before, but at least it sounds like Pete was actually able to stand and sing properly in Manchester. Last night he looked like he was going to pass out at any second.

perhaps it was just a bad night for them? Modded by admin. Unless the band have publicly stated that this was why they weren't able to play, accusing them of an illegal activity is on dodgy legal ground. Thanks. ;D

Hey it was so good to see you there charlotte, sorry i didn't get chance to speak to you properly but with the way the sound system was set up i couldn't hear a bloody thing (i think i may be getting old, no surely not!).
I must say though how much i enjoyed the gig, what a refreshing change to see a band really give their all to make their fans happy, playing well over the time allocated, performing a huge set of songs that i honestly thought was never going to end, oh what a great time we all had........................... the day we went to Bangor......... Oh no sorry that was a different band wasn't it!!

SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just woke up after i fell asleep watching the telly and found that i have been sleep-posting.... Bloody Hell what a load of crap i talk in my sleep (Yeah Yeah i know what you are thinking, no comment). As Charlotte quite rightly states in her original thread, what a pile of shit that was, £40 for tickets, £18 for a tee-shirt, only to stand there for a couple of hours and basically be taken the piss out of by the band, they could not be arsed to play anything, the lead singer Pete Steel looked completely out of it (on whatever or for whatever reason) there was / is a rumour that he is actually ill (i will keep my thoughts to myself on that one), very dissapointed with the lack of anything that they gave and really really upset that this will probably be the only time that we get to see them, had been looking forward to this one for a long time, it is very annoying though that the reviews for the previous night and the reviews for the following nights gigs were both great so i think we definately got the shit end of the stick. Check out the link below and you will see that we are not the only ones that were not to happy about the preceedings. www.typeonegative.net/board/viewforum.php?f=3You do have to log in / join the forum but beieve me it is well worth the time, enjoy.... Alternatively you can also check out their myspace page and read the posts on there, the two are pretty much saying the same thing.

Hopefully another band that will give a great performance that we are going to see tomorrow is Metallica, not seen them live before but they are meant to be awesome so fingers crossed, just had a look on the Wembley stadium web site and it looks as though they are doing a 2 1/2 hour set so it should be good ;D

I've never actually seen Metallica, I've made a set design for them, been around for soundcheck and I met the original band, but still haven't got round to seeing the live show!! My son, however, always goes to at least one gig per tour and sometimes more if he gets back stage passes, anyway I digress.......... they aren't just good, they're bloody FANTASTIC live!! (His words and he's seen a few hundred bands at various levels as he's been going to gigs since he was 9!!)
