I wanted just to wrap things up on the skyclad thread, but it seems to have been locked up .
I wanted to say that as far as my lineage is concerned, I don't consider it to be anyone's business but my own. However, I have been initiated twice to third and whilst admitting my Gardnerian lineage is difficult to properly trace back to source, my Alexandrian one is very short and sound indeed. Having said that, I don't consider lineage to mean very much. Lineage from what I have seen doesn't guarantee a level of skill, a level of talent or an ability to pass on what has been learned. My ability to teach and my skills will be testified by those who I have taught and those who work with me, and if anyone wants to try and belittle me by such a challenge then I would consider that their problem, not mine.
As far as skyclad is concerned I would say that I find it such a great shame that so many consider it to be something they wouldn't consider.
Being 'naked in your rites', besides being extremely liberating and comfortable, is clearly symbolic of the attitude we should approach the Goddess and God. However, we should also enter a Circle with perfect love and perfect trust. Personally I consider the consideration of being skyclad to be a very good litmus test of that perfect love and trust. Do you trust the people you are entering the Circle with enough to be naked (even if you don't actually work that way)? If the answer is no then perhaps you shouldn't be entering the Circle in the first place because without that love and trust one is on dodgy ground.
I for one will continue to regard the practice as an important one in Wicca.
See you all at the Solstice.
Blessed be,
Kevin Saunders
