I had the pleasure of being taken out by my loveley hubby Sat night to the cinema, we went to watch spiderman 3 and were amazed to see Peter Parker with a slapped down fringe dressed all in black....major signs of being an EMO My fears were confirmed as we passed the Carling Academy (on way to scruffy's)as a hundred Peter Parker look alikes waited to get in I found it highly amusing but i am afraid any marvel fans might be a little dissapionted Jo

Why do I fear another xmen debate coming on? The black "costume" is Venum an alien symbiote which first cropped at the the end of the Secret Wars story line. Its ment to be a mute alien creature which bonds with a host and then slowly feeds on the "feeds" until the hosts premeture death. Its got bugger all do to do with "the evil side of spiderman".
They are slowly working their way though the charactors history, as with the Xmen, you cannot expect a 2 hour film to explain, in the case of Spiderman, a story which has been slowly told since 1962.

They looked good but were totally impractical. Even as punks we succumbed to being fashion victims! No change there then. ::)I want to see the return of back-combing hair! (without the use of two whole cans of ozone damaging hairspray this time) ;D

When I couldn't afford hairspray, I would use soap - makes the hair dull, but works fine. I never wore trousers in those days (other way round now. You will never find me in a skirt!) I would only wear fish-nets and skirts so tight you could hardly hobble, let alone walk. And stilletto boots with toes so sharp you could skewer a kebab on 'em! Bliss!!! The Damned, Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Stranglers, The Cure............ gotta go and calm down in a quiet room.

Some years after punk, when New Romantics came in, I set up a wine bar (stop laughing) with six other people. A friend of mine, Sue, was the tour manager for Bauhaus and she used to bring Pete Murphy to the bar with her. He once did a rendition of Bela lugosi's dead whilst standing on a table. The New Romantics were not impressed! With regard to the boots, I was once kicked by someone wearing those and the bruise came up like an egg. Vicious (not Sid)!

So, having not seen the film yet, and not being toooo interested in it, does Spiderman look like a goth? Is that what we are saying? Might go and see it just for that image. Although the new Pirates film is out soon and THAT is more my style!! Nothing better than a bit of swashing and buckling. And I'm sure Johnny is a closet goth/punk. Or more Adam Ant, perhaps???
