I have found a specialist at a hospital in Worcester who prescribes natural thyroxin, all I have to do now is persuade my GP to refer me and find a way of getting there to go and see him!! There is a doctor in Moseley but I'm not sure whether he is NHS or private, any ideas as to how much a private consultation and prescription costs? I could buy the medication myself and self treat as hundreds of others are doing but I wouldn't feel comfortable without a doctor monitoring me as I have angina.

I've not had a private GP consultation but I think that they range from £50 up to £120.
Private prescriptions vary. You can get cheap stuff like antibiotics for a couple of quid, but then other drugs cost hundreds of pounds. It also costs an admin charge for a private prescription - this used to be £1.00 but I haven't been sick for a while so don't know if that is still the same.
Good luck and if there is anything we can do to help, please let us know.

I am gradually coming round to the idea of self - medicating, I know it is risky but I can't bear this any more. Hopefully I can get my GP to monitor me through it, I will have to make a load of stuff to sell, to raise the money to pay for the drugs to be sent from America. Bloody annoying considering there are Endocrinologists in the country who will prescribe on the NHS but not in the West Midlands!
Thanks for the offer of help, I may need it!!!
